Transfer
There are 2 airports that cater to Cappadocia:
Nevşehir (NAV) and Kayseri (ASR). The duration of transfer between NAV and Mustafapaşa, where you will be staying, is approximately 1 hour, while that time is approximately 1.5 hours between ASR and Mustafapaşa.
2 types of transfer services are available for both airports:
1. Shared shuttle service: Driver holding a sign with your name on it meets and leads you to the van. You get dropped off at your hotel's doorstep. One-way rate is approximately € 15 per person. Booking is required; please contact your hotel. Please also note that this service may take longer than expected, considering the ride is shared with several other passengers, who will be dropped off at different hotels.
2. Private service: Driver holding a sign with your name on it meets and leads you to the car. You get dropped off at your hotel's doorstep. One-way rate is in the € 75 - 120 range per van (depending on the vehicle capacity). Booking is required; to request for quotations, please contact either your hotel or the conference organizers.
Available only for the Nevşehir (NAV) Airport is the most economical, yet lengthiest and therefore least convenient, option: regular service using the shuttle van with the Ürgüp sign on it. You would need to walk out of the airport building and into the van and should inform the driver that you need to go to Mustafapaşa. You get dropped off at a designated bus stop in downtown (exceptions may be possible for being dropped off at your hotel). One-way rate is approximately € 12 per person. No booking is required.

Off the Beaten Tracks
Off to see a lesser-visited part of Cappadocia: The first site will be the rock-hewn monastery of Keşlik, with its beautiful frescoes and impressive dining hall. Next, we will take a short hike in the otherworldly valley of Soğanlı, where a considerable portion of the remains of an important Byzantine rock-cut settlement with mansions, agricultural facilities, and churches survives. Our last stop will be the underground city of Mazı, one of the many mysterious subterranean shelters of the region, to explore its tunnels, shafts, rooms, and storage facilities.

Hikers & Nature-Lovers
One of the best ways to touch the soul of Cappadocia: a long hike through the extraordinarily picturesque Red Valley with its multi-colored rock formations and Byzantine cave churches. We will then visit Çavuşin, an abandoned village with rock-cut dwellings, stone houses, and an impressive basilica dedicated to St. John the Baptist, which is one of the oldest rupestrian monuments in the region. We will end the day in the riverside town of Avanos, renowned with its ancient tradition of pottery.

Hot-Air Ballooning: Although we encourage visitors to be "down-to-earth" when wondering at sights of Cappadocia, hot-air ballooning remains to be widely considered a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The popularity of this activity entails costliness. The rate per person ranges from € 250 to 300 in the spring season. Reservations fill fast, so balloon companies usually require advance booking. Out of experience, we would recommend Butterfly Balloons. You may individually book on their website (https://www.butterflyballoons.com/en) or may contact us for a group reservation to request discounted rates.
General Notes:
-
We recommend that you bring hiking shoes or comfortable footwear suitable for uneven terrain, hats, sunblock, lip balm, fleece top/sweater, and water bottles with you.
-
The schedules presented above are subject to change and may be modified depending on weather conditions, road closings, daily events or other unforeseen circumstances outside the control of the tour guide or organizers in charge.
